Armed with torches inside jars and trumpets, Gideon and his 300 men surrounded the "thick as locusts" Midianite army at night. Just after the changing of the Midianite guard, Gideon and his men blew their trumpets and broke the jars, shouting, "A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!" At this God caused the Midianites to turn on each other with their swords and then to run. Gideon and his men, along with the men of Ephraim, gave chase and defeated their enemy. This remarkable story is found in Judges 7:1-8:21.
